About Mela / Sobre Mela

I'm from Panama City, Panama. Now living in Albuquerque, NM. I work on symbolic illustrations influenced by molas, my culture's hand-sewn textiles from the Kuna. The animals, the colors, and the lines inspire my artwork. Concept art for comics has recently influenced me—specifically, manga. I create different styles of artwork. I spend my time studying storytelling and concept art.

I’ve been a street artist and muralist professionally for over 11 years. Now, I see each day as an opportunity to improve and grow in illustration and storytelling. I’m good at solving problems in artwork compositions. My experience with perspective solutions has been my strength for many years.
